Prysm

Voice calling + screen sharing feature for web/mobile app

Context & Challenge

Prysm makes large-scale displays alongside web & mobile solutions used by its customers globally for collaboration and presentation. During collaboration, many remote teams expressed having difficulty communicating with each other while working on the same project. They often had to resort to third party solutions to contact each other. I led UX efforts to come up with an MVP solution to address the issue.

My main contributions included:

User research and User Flows

I conducted phone interviews alongside a junior designer and product manager with four teams of 6 or more people followed by a client site visit. In addition our customer success & sales teams to offered us valuable insights. This helped us narrow the scope of our project for a MVP and create an array of user flows to address all issues.

 Wireframes & Mockups

Based on our research findings, I created multiple sets of wireframes from low to high-fidelity for the main app. I communicated heavily with developers and attended stand-ups almost daily to have a firm grasp of how much time they needed to create the micro-services for this feature. I adjusted designs accordingly to save time for the initial MVP release.

Mobile App

In addition to wireframes for the main app, I also worked on comps for our mobile app solution to give the stakeholders an idea of what this feature could look like as an iPhone app.

Usability testing & Iteration

I created clickable prototypes in Invision and conducted two rounds of internal usability testing to gather some feedback on the designs. I also remotely shared these concepts with two of our customers. Following presentations to stakeholders at the end of each round, the designs went through multiple phases of iteration.

Implementation

The development team was creating the micro-service  while I was designing and testing. A remote team in Ukraine was mainly in charge of front-end development work. With the help of very communicative Product Manager and Scrum master, I was able to create the final requirements and design documentation as the final hand off for both teams.
